Dapple Bloodstock
Dapple Family

Mr. Akers has been involved in all aspects of the thoroughbred industry for over 25 years after attending the University of Kentucky. Prior to forming Dapple Bloodstock, Mr. Akers and his wife, Sherry, created and built Dapple Advertising, specializing in promotional and gift products for companies of all sizes. During this time, Mr. Akers dedicated himself to pedigree and conformation analysis, equating his evaluations to economic value in the thoroughbred marketplace. His activities included thoroughbred portfolio management, bloodstock appraisals, consulting on bloodstock purchases and sales for clients to race and breed and stallion season management. As the industry surged during the 1990's, Mr. Akers founded Dapple Bloodstock to create racing syndications and to formalize his portfolio management, consulting, appraisal, rate of return products and purchase and sale activities. At the same time, Dapple acquired interests in broodmares and stallion seasons with the intent of owning and managing bloodstock alongside its growing client base.

Lora, a Lexington native raised with riding horses, graduated from Lexington's Transylvania University in 1990. Her subsequent work in broadcast advertising eventually opened an attractive opportunity to market and develop programs in the Thoroughbred industry. In 1996 she was named Director of Marketing for the Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Association in which she traveled to race venues executing the non-profit New Owners Seminar Programs she marketed throughout the year. In 1998 Ms. Brown accepted an offer from Dapple Bloodstock with purpose marketing the various Dapple partnership opportunities and cultivating the new partnership clients.

An Ireland transplant, Dan boasts the outstanding combination of formal education that includes awards and achievements, along with extensive experience with Thoroughbred mares, yearlings, and stallions earned on three different continents. His personal interest in the horses at Dapple Stud is obvious to those around him.

Mark moved to Lexington in 1997 with the expressed goal of working in the horse industry. Given that chance by Ben Walden, Jr. at Vinery, he eventually became Controller in 1999. Most recently he spent 4½ years at Pope McLean's Crestwood Farm.

His experience at two leading Kentucky horse farms gives Mark a chance to maximize his unique skill set with the recent acquisition of Dapple Stud. He manages all aspects of farm accounting in addition to 10+ LLC investment programs for Dapple.

A horse racing fan since the mid-'80s, Mark became interested in the breeding side from his weekly subscription to The Blood-Horse.

Raised on his father's Highclere Farm, Stuart owned his first mare at the age of 12, and progressed with commercial breeding and farm management work from there. He graduated from Hampton-Sydney College with an economics degree in 1997, and came right back to join his father, Jeffry Morris at Highclere. Stuart brings vast experience, and loads of enthusiasm to Dapple Stud. Congratulations are in order for some instant success Dapple Stud sales consignments in Kentucky.

Dapple is fortunate to inherit Ruben with the land acquisition, as he has managed the 900 acre facility for 8 years. Prior to that he gave another 8 years to Walmac Int'l, also in historic Bourbon County, KY. Ruben and his family live at Dapple Stud.
